Storyboard Art

One of the products I offer are storyboards. They are a great way to put images together to create a 'story' feel.
I offer two different sizes but can order custom sizes depending on the amount and size of the images you want to use in your storyboard.
You can also purchase them in either print or canvas.
Prints you will need to get framed, canvases come ready to hang.
All you have to worry about is where you want to show them off.

Here are some examples of storyboards to give you an idea of what you can create.

This day was the first day that Lillee had ever been to the beach.
Her and her Mumma love the water, and it showed when Lillee was not fazed at all by the movement of the waves. She just wanted to splash and splash, and everytime we took her out, she crawled as fast as she could back in.

Thank you Keona, Shane and Lillee for letting me spend a couple hours with you.
I had so much fun, and I'm so glad the water was beautiful and warm.

Newborn Vincent {Rockhampton Newborn Photographer}

How totally adorable is this little guy!
Considering he spent the first hour of his life awake and making everyone know about it, he was such a dreamy peaceful little newborn for his shoot.
I had the pleasure of not only getting to photograph Vincent with his family when he was just a bump, but I was also there for his birth. You can check out his beautiful Birth Story here.

Erin, Glen and Cooper, thank you for letting me spend a few hours with this gorgeous little bundle.
He was perfect.

The Birth of Vincent {Rockhampton Birth Photography}

I am so excited to share not only another beautiful birth story, but a cesarean birth.
I truly believe that every birth has its own story.
It's not just the story of the birth of a beautiful baby, but the story of their first breath, their first hug, their first feed, and the first time they are introduced to make a family whole.

Thank you so much Erin and Glen for letting me be there to capture this wonderful time in your life, and the permission to share it with everyone else as well.

For everyone else, make sure you have tissues ready, this is a story worth watching.

No More Oatmeal Kisses

A friend of mine recently let me borrow one of her favourite books, Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul.
It is full on many heart touching stories about motherhood, be prepared with tissues if you are off to buy it.

She slipped in a note for me that the story on pg 132 was the one that made her buy the book.
So it was the first one I read.
And the first one I cried my eyes out too.
It is my favourite story in the book and one I want to share with you all.

If you are a Mumma, you may want some tissues too.

No More Oatmeal Kisses

A young mother writes: "I know you've written before about the empty-nest syndrome, that lonely period after the children are grown and gone. Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in laundry and muddy boots. The baby is teething; the boys are fighting. My husband just called and said to eat without him, and I fell off my diet. Lay it on me again, will you?"

Okay. One of these days, you'll shout, "why don't you kids grow up and act your age?" And they will. Or, "You guys get outside and find yourselves something to do... and don't slam the door!" And they won't.
You'll straighten up the boy's bedroom neat and tidy: bumper stickers discarded, bedspread tucked and smooth, toys displayed on their shelves. Hangers in the closet. Animals caged. And you'll say out loud, "Now I want it to stay this way." And it will.
You'll prepare a perfect dinner with a salad that hasn't been picked to death and a cake with no finger traces in the icing, and you'll say, "Now, there's a meal for company." And you'll eat it alone.
You'll say, "I want complete privacy on the phone. No dancing around. No demolition crews. Silence! Do you hear?" And you'll have it.
No more plastic tablecloths stained with spaghetti. No more bed spreads to protect the sofa from damp bottoms. No more gates to stumble over at the top of the basement steps. No more clothespins under the sofa. No more playpens to arrange a room around.
No more anxious nights under a vaporizer tent. No more sand in the sheets or Popeye movies in the bathroom. No more iron-on patches, rubber bands for pony-tails, tight boots or wet knotted shoestrings.
Imagine. A lipstick with a point on it. No baby-sitter for New Year's Eve. Washing only once a week. Seeing a steak that isn't ground. Having your teeth cleaned without a baby on your lap.
No PTA meetings. No car pools. No blaring radios. No one washing her hair at 11 o'clock at night. Having your own roll of Scotch tape.
Think about it. No more Christmas presents out of toothpicks and library paste. No more sloppy oatmeal kisses. No more tooth fairy. No giggles in the dark. No knees to heal. No responsibility.
Only a voice crying, "Why don't you grow up?" and the silence echoing, "I did."

Family of Three {Rockhampton Family Photographer}

Sam, Miranda and Summer traveled up from Gladstone to have their family photos done, an we were so glad that there was a nice sunny day break in the weather for us to play in the long grass.
It was not only a day for a family session but a day for us to catch up with friends, and the first time for us to meet little Summer.
She is such a little cutie.
And those huge lashes are adorable.
Her Daddy is going to have one hell of a time keeping the boys away, thats for sure.

Thank you Sam and Miranda for letting me capture your beautiful little family.
Summer is such a doll.
We can't wait to catch up again.

Us + One More

We are so excited to announce that we are expecting baby number 2
We are in the third month, or more specific 13 weeks. And already it seems to have been such a long 13 weeks. We are so excited to have another little baby in the house. Our first one has grown up way to fast.
Cohen is so excited, he already kisses and hugs the baby, asks if its still in my tummy, and wants to know how big it is. It is all very cute. Hopefully he will be just as excited when baby comes along.

As for this effecting my work; I will be taking time off from March. I am sure I will be needing it by then. I hope to be back photographing sessions in May, but we will see how everything is going by then.

Fun Family of 4 {Rockhampton Family Photography}

I know miss Jaimee would be waiting patiently for these, trying to stop her finger from texting 'are they ready yet' for the last four days, and I don't blame her.
We had such a fun day that I would be anxious to see a sneak peek too.
Jaimee and her family played footy, picnicked, read books and tickled like crazy, the way a family should be on a sunday afternoon, and they are such a gorgeous family.
Toby showed me his new reading skills, Zack tried to out do his big brother in footy, and Jaimee and Anthony were beautiful and loving with all the questions I threw at them.

Thank you so much for letting me share a few hours with your family, I had such a good time, I could have kept you there forever :)

Green Cleaning

I have some recipes that I use around the house that I would like to share.
They are all home made cleaners. I love that I can use these and not have to worry about locking up those nasty chemicals that we have all had hidden under our sink at one stage or another.

The Spray and Wipe is my favourite, I use it for just about everything.

When Erin asked if it was ok if they did a beach paint each other shoot, I was so excited.
It was so much fun, and lucky for us a beautiful day.
Copper had a blast getting to paint his Mummy and Daddy, and more importantly himself!

After a clean up we moved to another location to make the most of the beautiful afternoon sun.
How gorgeous is this little family.
I can not wait to meet the new addition.

The Birth of Koby {Rockhampton Birth Photography}

I am so proud to be showing this, even so late at night.
Koby was the first birth I had the honour of photographing for two good friends of our Renee and Dave.
With their permission I get to share it with you.

Don't shy away, there is nothing 'icky' as my hubby would put it.
It is just a beautiful story of two people on one of their greatest days, bringing another into the world.

Neerkol Orphanage revisited

Over a year ago I had the privilege of being shown through the old Neerkol Orphanage.
It is one of my posts that gets the most consistency in people inquiring about it.
People that range from associations fighting for the rights of the children who lived there, historical associations, and councils, to people who did attend the Orphanage or family members, to thrill seekers and people interested in the Neerkol story.
It is located about 30 minutes out of Rockhampton on the way to Emerald and is classed as the worse Orphanage in QLD due to the horrid things the children there endured. Every type of abuse possible was carried out in that 'refuge', even drug trials on those poor children.
Even though they got governmental apologies from both Britain and Australia, justice will never be served for those who suffered at the hand of the Orphanage employees.
The Orphanage was home to many of children from over seas and here that came from poverty or were unforgivably told that their parents were no longer living.
There is a movie out now called Oranges and Sunshine that is about the children migrants that arrived in Australia destined for this Orphanage and many others across Australia.
There have also been some books written about Neerkol but you will have to look them up.
There are many stories over the web, and although there may be some that are not that bad, there are far more worse. They are stories that wont leave you for a while and will don you with a heavy heart for the children involved.

As for my trip through the Orphanage, it was not an easy one. I did have four others and my camera to keep me occupied, but it is a place that carries a heavy sadness.
I did not even know of the Orphanage or it's story until I was there and walking through it's buildings.
I do admit I am very empathetic and learning those stories while there would have effected my visit and outlook on the Orphanage greatly. Though I think anyone who reads those stories would not have a nice outlook on Neerkol either.
I did take photos along the way and in hindsight I wish I had taken more. But on the day I think I was more worried about capturing 'something' that I didn't want to see.

I find it amusing that there was such beautiful happy paintings in such a horrid place. I am sure they did have hopes for the children to have a happy beginning there, although I admire the paintings, I certainly did not feel anything happy about it.

The church was pretty empty inside, but I felt I shouldn't take any photos of the inside out of respect to the poor children who suffered inside its walls.

Inside the kitchen was terribly cold. A coldness that hits you when walking in. There were huge fridges that terrified me. I think what I had been told through my tour was playing on my mind because all I could think was that they were big enough to put people in. I have never heard of this is talkings of Neerkol or anything I have read so don't consider my crazy thoughts as fact.

These are the two rooms underneath the girls building. And the 'black hole'.
The black hole is were children where locked in punishment. It was also a terrifying place for me. I had a 2 year old at the time and cold not bear the thought of him being locked in there. No one should have been locked in there. Even as an adult I could not even go near the 'black hole', I have to say it scared the crap out of me.
To get to the 'black hole' you first go through these white doors, through the room with the wash tubs, into the room with the water systems and then there was the door to the 'black hole'. There is still a pad lock on the door.

Nicole & Charlie {Rockhampton Family Photographer}

As soon as Nicole stepped out of her car with cute cut bangs and a gorgeous vintage dress I knew we were going to have a great day, hello dream photoshoot. It only got better when I met the little miss Charlie, just as beautiful as her mumma.
Nicole had even brought along little vintage and handmade clothing for her, even a hand made rocking horse from her Grandad.
The day was perfect in every way and little Charlie was just adorable. I loved that she was totally mesmerised by her mummas singing, even more so when her mumma and four grandparents were all singing along together.
It was one of those days where I wished the sun didn't set so quickly.

How adorable is Charlie's little crinkled nose when she was laughing.

Over the weekend I went away to Sydney to not only catch up with great friends but to also check out the PMA, {a photography convention}. It was a great weekend, and the predicted few hours at the PMA turned into whole days, 2 of them! The photo judging was so interesting and a bit addictive to watch.
I have to admit though that I didn't take many photos while away, I think I took more on my iPhone then even on my camera.

Family of Eleven {Rockhampton Family Photographer}

Yep, eleven. 8 big ones and 3 small ones and loads of fun and laughs.
When we picked a spot for the shoot in the gardens we may or may not have scared off a couple relaxing nearby. It was kids jumping out of trees, boys chucking a footy around, and girls snacking on double choc chip cookies loads of fun.

It was all in celebration of Kay's up and coming Birthday. What better present then to get family photos taken. I hope my kids grow up like these guys.

What's more wonderful is that Kay and Dwayne have been together for 33 years, they met in there school years, raised a beautiful family and are still like teenagers when together.

I think they also passed that trait onto Owen and Michelle, they are so darn cute and funny together.

Elissa and Dirk have the youngest grandchild Braith who is now 6 months old, and Sam and Richard have just started planning their wedding.

Sam you will make such a beautiful bride and I hope you both have a truly magical day and many of wonderful years together just like your parents.

Kay, Happy Birthday, hope they all spoil you some more and this time include a huge cake :)

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous little boy 6 months ago when he was a sleepy little newborn. Now he is a happy blue eyed baby with the cutest chubby legs.
We had fun in the long grass and beautiful afternoon light, and with a family this wonderful, it really makes my job just that much sweeter.
Elissa had me totally jealous of her gorgeous skirt, and Dirk had me in hysterics with his iPhone music to entertain Braith.
Thanks so much guys, I so can't wait to do it all again.

A Cohen and his Nock

The first of my parents grandchildren lived in Melbourne when she was little. When ever they traveled to see my parents the were always going to see Wagga.
Since she just adored our Dad she associated visiting Wagga with visiting him. Though in little toddler language Wagga sounded more like Mocha. So from that our Dad was named Mocha by his first grandchild.
When Cohen came along he went and changed it to suit himself.
When he was learning to speak he couldn't quite get the Mocha, not even Mock. It was Nock. And that it has been for us since he learnt t talk.

Microwaving

Last week I found this post about microwaving which lead me to this youtube video below.
It's very interesting to say the least and worth watching.
Needless to say, we don't have a microwave anymore. We didn't use it much so it was no big deal, I just have to remember to get frozen meat out the day before I need it a heat any leftovers on the stove.
I do have to learn how to make popcorn on the stove top though!

Kimberley, Rikky & Bradley {Rockhampton Children Photographer}

We were literally about to get into our cars to head out for dinner when I took a couple of photos. It turned into a 10 minute family photo session, maybe even less then 10 minutes, really, that quick, we were all desperate to fill our faces with yummy Chinese.
Aren't these kids gorgeous, their family also have such beautiful hearts, I have never felt so welcome, I can totally understand why my parents call them their friends. We spent the day with them while on holidays and even just 15mins ago when I edited these images for this post Cohen was pointing and asking to 'go see them', even he loved the day there.
Stay gorgeous Kimberley and Rikky. Bradley you are such a cutey I could follow you around with the camera all day.

Pigs and Playtime

Away on our last holiday in March we visited some of my parents friends, Lisa and Barry. We spent the day and eventually went out for dinner together as well. I had a great day, and Cohen had fun with all the new things too.
Lisa and Barry have a pig farm, along with the many other things that keep them busy during the day.
They also happened to have some tiny little babies that we could go see and play with.
Cohen had a ball, Lisa helped him hold a little pig. He spent the next 3 weeks pretending he was a little baby piggy complete with grunting and squealing noises.

'Why the farm?'

'Because it's beautiful up there.'

Our parents live on 4000 acres of beauty in the mountains, NSW side of the VIC boarder.

There is so many wonderful places and so much to see, what better place than that to have your family photo shoot.

Amy has a family of four.

Her beautiful self who I did a shoot for here.

Her partner Kyle who has every episode of the Simpson's catalogued in his memory.

Bailey who is going to be a drumming rock star like his Daddy.

This is Amy, my younger sister.
We are so so different, yet so alike as well.
We spent our younger years climbing trees, making tree houses and playing 'guess what comes next' on the trampoline.
We have the same warped sense of humor and a sibling style communication that no one else seems to understand. You know that thing with your siblings where you just get what they're on about, no explanation needed, and everyone else is left out of the loop looking at you weird! Yeah that's us.
She is beautiful and funny, and I miss her to pieces.

Ooh Baby Ooh Boy

On Friday afternoon before heading over to the park for training I thought it would be a great idea to take Ali, since I never take her with me. Usually it's Nathan that takes her walking cause she is the worst dog to walk, though totally our fault for not trainer her to. Well Cohen and I packed our bag, put the dog on a leash and started walking over.
The whole time I'm lugging our bag packed with 8kg of weights, water bottle, towels, iPhone, all that jazz... rousing at Ali who is pulling on the leash, talking to my friend who trains with me, trying to cross the dog, my 3 years old and myself across the road, and hanging onto that leash for dear life with Cohen holding the end of it.
Well something had to give, and it did.. Ali's leash slipped from my hand, she reefed on the leash that Cohen still had a hold of and sent him flying into the air and face crashing into the dirt a meter away.
My poor little boy came up with skin off everywhere screaming for Mummy and crying hard.
After I consoled Cohen, caught the dog and screamed bloody mary at her, we went home to patch up the battle wounds.
Cohen demanded medicine to make him feel better, and I demanded pizza to make me feel better.

Last night his poor little eye was bad, but today........ooh baby ooh boy

It looks a lot worse then how he is.
Needless to say, he wont be 'helping' lead Ali again.

Today is the day our little boy was born three years ago.
Time goes to quickly when you have a child.
One moment you have a baby that cries through the night, the next moment you have a three year old who climbs into your bed and kicks you out through the night.
He has grown to fast, learnt too many things to fast, and can repeat words you say under your breath to fast!

You will be my little boy forever Cohen, even when your taller then me.

Dreams Lead to Dreams {Rockhampton Birth Photography}

When I was pregnant with Cohen I searched for anything to do with maternity. Lamaze classes, maternity yoga, support places, anything.
I was heart broken to discover that we had nothing available, no classes, no yoga, not even a birth centre.
I longed to be in Melbourne doing Juju Sundin's Birth classes, or be anywhere doing anything that would prepare me for the biggest day of my life.
Right then I started dreaming of opening our own birth centre, one that could provide information for all sorts of services available. Want a Doula? We have them. What maternity fitness classes? Yep we have them. Don't want to have your baby in a hospital? We can help you there too.
Everything in the one place with all the options available to expecting mothers who wanted them.
Yes that was a huge dream. One that was really unthinkable considering I did not have a clue at all.
But still, it was nice to think of.

When I hit 38 weeks my waters broke. Then the day after that I was induced.
After 2 hours of stuffing around and some irregular contractions, at 12 noon, the midwife declared established labour.
5 and a half hours later a beautiful baby boy was born. Our beautiful baby boy.
I had had the most fantastic pregnancy and a great birth, and now we were welcoming a new life into the world. Into our world.

From that moment I knew I had to have something to do with the birth experience.
But what, I didn't know.

For months after, in between colic, reflux, breastfeeding and catching up on sleep, I thought of what I could do. What is there that would have me helping people with their own birth experiences?
The only thing I could think of was becoming a Doula.
Not something I was overly interested in doing, but the thought was there.

5 months after having Cohen my husband brought me a DSLR camera and told me to pursue my life dream of having my own photography business. Something I had had a passion for since a high school art class.
I soon focused all my attention on that and the Doula job was forgotten, though the birth experience wasn't.

I think it may have been the start of 2010 when I come across some photographer websites that done birth photography. I didn't even know that people done this. How I didn't think of this still has me confused!
Why hadn't I thought of this? What a whole new world I had discovered.
Very shortly after that I had a friend post me a birth slide show saying that this is what I should do.
A new world of possibilities had opened up and my dream to document birth experiences ignited.

Well that dream I dreamt for a long time.
Now, that dream has come true.

This year I am venturing into birth photography.
Documenting personal birth experiences.
Being there to capture your birth story.

You may be reading this with excitement, or you may have no idea - or a gross one - of what birth photography is.

This is such a dream for me that it has taken a great amount of courage just to make it come to life.

Blog revival

I have spent so much time doing everything else, that my blog has gone by the way side and has been forgotten.
I have to admit that it has been so nice being away from the computer, not being stuck on it for hours at a time, days even when my work load is larger then myself. But it can't last forever. Work commences and the blog is being revived again.
So what have we been up to you ask?
Well here is a glimpse of our January.

Nathan had to be helicoptered to work while we were flooded out of Rockhampton.

The kids played on the slip 'n' slide.

Ali watched in my jealousy.

And we spent a day at the Heritage Village kids activities.

One Year One Love ~ The End

Finally I have had the chance to get through the last of Cohens photos from my 52 week project.
It's a relief to have it done and dusted, as much fun as it was.

This year I'm going to try a different paced project, 3 people 12 times. A family photo every month of the year. I just have to work out how to convince my husband that this is a great idea!

Home Sweet Home

We arrived home from holidays nearly 2 weeks ago. I had my computer running for 2 days then it died on me.
It wasn't a huge problem and would have been fixed that day if we had not been flooded out of town.
Finally I have my computer up and running and am back on line.

We had a great time away on holidays.
We visited Underwater World on the Sunshine Coast on the way down and the Dubbo Zoo on the way home.
We cooked and ate way more then what we ever have and relaxed relaxed relaxed.
Most of all, we spent a lot of time with family.
We can't wait to do it all again, holidays never last long enough.

And because a post is always better with a photo, this is the sun rising as we left to go home.

Christmas is a coming

So today is the first day of December which means Christmas is right around the corner.
I can't believe how fast the year has gone. I think they get faster the older you get, then even faster after you have children. If someone knows how to slow the time down then please do share the secret.
Anyway here is some things I am putting on my Christmas wish list.
Not dropping any hints or anything *cough,nathan*.

The Magic Bullet is totally on my wish list and lucky me gets to mark it off thanks to my father in law {I will still be surprised at Christmas! }

One gorgeous graduate {Rockhampton Children Photographer}

My little friend Sarah graduated from year 7 last week and I was so proud to be there along side her family to watch it all proceed.
I managed to hold it together the whole way through until she did her final walk out.
I couldn't be more happy for her, she has achieved so much in the years I have known her.

Charlie and the the Chocolate Factory

I have some blogs that I check every now and then for anything new or exciting.
Today when I was going through The CoffeeShop Blog I found something that I just had to share.
It is a song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that the Oompa-Loompas' sing about watching TV.
I love it! Love love love it.
Simple .... because I love books.
